Petr Zahradníček is a native of the Czech Republic. As a dancer, he worked with the National Theater in Prague (Czech Republic), Theater Vorpommern, Salzburg Ballet, Stadttheater Würzburg (Germany), Colorado Ballet and Milwaukee Ballet.
Zahradníček has choreographed many pieces for Milwaukee Ballet, The Nancy Einhorn Milwaukee Ballet II Program and Milwaukee Ballet School & Academy. He has also created five original pieces for Ballet Memphis in Tennessee. He has also choreographed and collaborated with several Milwaukee area art groups including the Florentine Opera, Danceworks, Master Singers of Milwaukee, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Present Music.
In 2007, Zahradníček received a grant from the New York Choreographic Institute, an affiliate of New York City Ballet, to create a new work. He is also a three-time finalist at McCallum’s Choreography Festival in California and two-time winner of the Paid Engagement Award. In 2012 and 2013, Zahradníček presented two full-length programs of his repertoire at the McCallum Theater.
This summer, Zahradníček was one of four choreographers selected for the 10th anniversary season of The National Choreographers Initiative in Irvine, California. This fall, he choreographed scenes in La Traviata for the Florentine Opera.
