ROMEO & JULIET

When a story is retold as often as Romeo & Juliet, how it’s told is of utmost importance. And nobody tells a story quite like Milwaukee Ballet. This interpretation of the doomed lovers caught between feuding families forgoes prose for poses and couplets for choreography. Through movement and the live performance of Prokofiev’s score, the dancers convey everything from infatuation to epic heartbreak. To witness them is to feel everything right along with them.

THE NUTCRACKER

"The Nutcracker" is, in every way, like a dream. Clara, Fritz, and Marie’s journey is a magical mix of familiar feelings and fantastical spectacle. Everyone recognizes Tchaikovsky’s indelible score and the characters’ sense of childlike wonderment. But dancing flowers and snowflakes? Toys coming to life? These could only come from one’s wildest imagination or deepest subconscious. But The Nutcracker isn’t a dream. You’ll know, simply because you cannot shut your eyes.

FEBRUARY 13 - 16, 2014
When experiencing Winter Series in the intimate Pabst Theater, you’ll feel chills that have nothing to do with the season. The 2013 winner of "Genesis," Milwaukee Ballet’s international choreographic competition, will return with acclaimed choreographer Luca Veggetti to challenge traditional definitions of dance. SPRING SERIES
APRIL 3 - 6, 2014
"Spring Series" treats Milwaukee to choreographers with fans all over the country. In their much-anticipated returns, Matthew Neenan and Amy Seiwert will premier two new works tailored specifically to the strengths of the company dancers. Venezuelan choreographer Vincente Nebrada puts a twist on traditional dance in "Our Waltzes," featuring live piano accompaniment. One show. Two premieres. Together, it’s a triple billing of rising stars and an insider invitation to join the following.

MIRROR MIRROR - WORLD PREMIERE
MAY 15 - 18, 2014
In a battle of beauty versus beauty, things are bound to get ugly. This is the case in Michael Pink’s world premiere ballet, presented by Donna and Donald Baumgartner. A pure young beauty goes up against her sinister seductress of a stepmother. The story is inspired by Snow White. The costumes are inspired by the brilliant Alexander McQueen. The choreography? Simply inspired. Composer Philip Feeney returns with a new blockbuster score performed live by the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra. With dark, striking set design and beautiful ballerinas, appearances are everything. Which makes "Mirror Mirror" a must-see.
