Taking ballet to the streets

Join us in July as we share the joy of dance with the community!

Our dancers will collaborate with partners throughout the city including festivals, outdoor venues, and libraries to create a summer filled with outreach and performances–all for FREE. From Slinger to Wauwatosa and in-between. Find out where will be this summer!

  • July 7: Ballet Story Time

    1 pm at Slinger Community Library

    Ballet Story Time: 
    Ballet Storytime brings books such as “Dogs Don’t Do Ballet” by Anna Kemp or “Ballerino Nate” by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley to life with the help of our Milwaukee Ballet Beat Dancers. We even teach ballet basics featured within the stories.

  • July 13: Ballet Story Time

  • July 15: Pilates Class & Ballet Class at Bastille Days

    9:30 am Wisconsin Athletic Club, Downtown Location, Lobby of the 411 Building

    Pilates Class: 
    Join Company Dancers in a Pilates Class taught by a Wisconsin Athletic Club instructor. Learn how to target your core muscles as you tone and sculpt your body. This classic Pilates Mat class emphasizes precise body alignment, mental focus, and breath work for a refreshing mind/body work out. Also enjoy a free day-pass for the Wisconsin Athletic Club!

    10 am-3 pm Bastille Days: Mini Ballet Class with Autograph Signing:
    Learn the basic ballet positions, French terminology, meet the Dancers and collect their autographs! Bastille Days is in Downtown Milwaukee and centered around Cathedral Square Park.

    Mini Ballet Classes are ongoing throughout the day. Free and open to the public

     

  • July 18: A Day in the Life Workshop

    11 am at Above the Clouds, 510 E Burleigh St., Milwaukee

    A Day in the Life Workshop:
    Dancers take the audience through their day with a demonstration of ballet class and a pointe and partnering demo. Hear the music used in ballet class, feel a section of Marley flooring, and gain a sense of what the life of a dancer entails with a Q&A.

  • July 19: Action/Reaction Workshop

    10 am at Kidz Days at Marcus Center for the Performing Arts

    Action/Reaction Workshop:
    Action/Reaction is a fun and active workshop where our staff and dancers use games to teach the basics of choreography. We explore dance space and artistic expression.

  • July 21: Dress Rehearsal

    6:30 pm at Milwaukee Ballet, Jodi Peck Center, 504 W National Ave

  • July 27: Ballet Fitness Challenge Workshop

    1:30 pm Wauwatosa Public Library

    Flex those muscles through exercises focused on strength, balance, flexibility, agility, speed, and coordination. This workshop addresses the importance of health and exercise, demonstrating that a dancer’s work is just as demanding as a professional athlete’s–and it’s a lot tougher than it looks.

  • July 27: Ballet Beat Finale at Peck Pavilion

    7pm Peck Pavilion at Marcus Center for Performing Arts

    From classical to contemporary this performance will feature excerpts from Swan Lake and La Bohème, a new work from Choreographer-in-Residence Petr Zahradnícek and more! You’ll also have the chance to meet the dancers after the show.

  • July 28: Ballet Beat at Emergence Performance

    4:30pm and 7:30pm at Sharon Lynne Wilson Center

    See our Ballet Beat dancers perform at the showcase for our Summer Intensive Program: Emergence. Emergence is a ticketed event at Sharon Lynne Wilson Center, featuring the students of our Summer Intensive Program, with guest artists, Barry Molina, Lizzie Tripp, Marie Harrison, Lahna Vanderbush and Randy Crespo. Tickets are available at Sharon Lynne Wilson Center Box Office.
