Dancer and choreographer Enrico Morelli has won several choreographic competitions throughout Italy including the Competition Michele Abbate in Caltanissetta, the International Dance Festival of Rieti, and the Competition Danza Estate of Firenze. In 2001, he received the Silver Medal of the President of the Italian Republic in recognition of his accomplishments as a dancer.
Morelli’s choreography credits include creating works for MM Contemporary Dance Company, Astra Roma Ballet, the School of Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Dominic Walsh Dance Theatre, Kaos Balletto di Firenze, and Teatro Massimo of Palermo. He is a resident choreographer for Szegedi Kortárs Balett (Hungary).
He has been a dancer with MM Contemporary Dance Company under the direction of Michele Merola since 2004.
He joined Merola as a director of Agora Coaching Project-Reggio Emilia in 2010, where he works on advanced training programs for dancers. Morelli graduated from Italy’s Accademia Nazionale di Danza-Roma and also attended the first year of their specialization course for teachers.
In 2017, Morelli won the Audience Choice Award of Milwaukee Ballet’s Genesis competition with his original work, The Noise of Whispers. The following year, he returned to Milwaukee with another new work, Compieta.
