Votes are cast each night of the performance and the overall winner receives the opportunity to return to create another work for Milwaukee Ballet. The most recent winner of Genesis was Price Suddarth, an award-winning choreographer and dancer based in Seattle, who impressed judges and audiences with his work Aftermath in 2022. Price recently returned to Milwaukee Ballet to create Strangeland, which premiered onstage as part of a 2023 mixed-repertory performance, Originals.
Other Genesis winners have returned to choreograph for the Milwaukee Ballet, including former Resident Choreographer Timothy O’Donnell, Gabrielle Lamb, Mauro de Candia, Garrett Smith, Aleix Mañé, and Nelly van Bommel.
