This year’s program will premiere three moving new works. Milwaukee Ballet School & Academy faculty member and Interim MBII Rehearsal Director Calvin Hilpert will create his second work for MBII, Grief and Rage, which explores keen suffering and fiery passion. MBII dancer Amanda Lewis creates her first official work for MBII. Unspoken shines a light on those experiencing domestic abuse and the struggles of walking away. Guest choreographer Kristopher Estes-Brown returns with a new creation Light, Dark, and in Between. This energizing work features 20 dancers and an original score created by Estes-Brown.
The program will conclude with classical ballet at its best with “Aurora’s Wedding” from the magical third act of Sleeping Beauty staged by MBII Artistic Director Mireille Favarel and Calvin Hilpert after Marius Petipa’s original choreography.
