MBSA follows a strict uniform policy of color-coded logo attire based on students’ level of study.

For all students

HAIR CHIN LENGTH OR LONGER
Hair must be secured into a neat ponytail, with long hair worn in a neat traditional ballet bun.

VERY SHORT HAIR
Hair must be secured neatly away from the face in a way that will not distract from class (headbands are not recommended).

OTHER RULES
Underwear is not to be worn under leotard and tights; appropriate undergarments required (i.e. dance belt)
Other than small stud earrings, no jewelry is allowed in class.

  • Children's Division

    Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet I, Pre-Ballet II, and  Pre-Ballet III
    OPTION 1 | MBSA leotard in Light Blue, light pink footed tights and ballet shoes; or matte flesh-tone footed tights and ballet shoes that most accurately match natural skin tone

    OPTION 2 | White fitted MBSA T-shirt, black shorts, white ankle socks, black ballet shoes

  • Student Division: Beginning Level

    Ballet I, Ballet II, Ballet III, and Boys Class I
    OPTION 1 | MBSA leotard in Sky Blue, light pink footed tights and ballet shoes; or matte flesh-tone footed tights and ballet shoes that most accurately match natural skin tone.  Flesh-tone camisole leotard to wear under costumes during performances with fabric (not plastic) straps

    OPTION 2 | White fitted MBSA T-shirt, slim-fitting black shorts, white ankle socks, black ballet shoes

  • Student Division: Intermediate Level

    Ballet IV, Ballet V, and Boys Class II
    OPTION 1 | MBSA leotard in Celestine Blue, light pink footed tights and ballet shoes; or matte flesh-tone footed tights and ballet shoes that most accurately match natural skin tone; character shoes. Flesh-tone camisole leotard to wear under costumes during performances with fabric (not plastic) straps

    OPTION 2 | White fitted MBSA T-shirt, black tights, black socks, black ballet shoes


    Ballet VI and Ballet VII

    OPTION 1 | MBSA leotard in Celestine Blue, light pink tights and ballet shoes; or matte flesh-tone tights and ballet shoes that most accurately match natural skin tone; pointe shoes to match tights (pink or flesh-tone), black jazz pants, black jazz shoes.   • Academy Division

    Ballet VIII
    OPTION 1 | MBSA leotard in Oxford Blue, light pink tights and ballet shoes; or matte flesh-tone tights and ballet shoes that most accurately match natural skin tone; pointe shoes to match tights (pink or flesh-toned), black jazz pants, and clean, non-marking sole sneakers.     Pre-Academy and Academy I

    Academy II

  • Pre-Professional Program

    OPTION 1 | At least one MBSA logo leotard in black, additional black leotards in style of choice, light pink tights and ballet shoes; or matte flesh-tone tights and ballet shoes that most accurately match natural skin tone, pointe shoes to match tights (pink or flesh-toned), Black practice tutu (Bloch Ladies’ Belle Tutu in Black R2921), black long character skirt, and black short wrap chiffon/georgette skirt. Flesh-tone camisole leotard to wear under costumes during performances with fabric (not plastic) straps.

    OPTION 2 | At least one MBSA logo white t-shirt, additional white or black slim fitting t-shirts, black or gray footed tights, black or white socks, black or white ballet shoes, and dance belt.

    OTHER REQUIRED ATTIRE
    Black jazz pants or leggings, black jazz shoes, character shoes (no t-strap), personal yoga mat, two medium strength Thera bands, and clean, non-marking sole sneakers for indoor studio use only.

  • Drop-In Division

    Dress in comfortable athletic attire.  Hair secured neatly.  Ballet shoes are required beyond your first class.

Summer Classes

During the summer, the dress code policy relaxes and MBSA logo attire is optional, not required. However, if your student is planning to attend classes in the fall, purchasing the uniform for use in the summer is strongly recommended.
