Milwaukee Ballet has long been recognized for its artistry, its nationally-accredited dance training, and the scope of its innovative community engagement. Now the company is embarking on an exciting expansion which will enable it to increase its impact on the greater Milwaukee community.
A new home, the Baumgartner Center for Dance, named in honor of our lead donors and long-time supporters Donna and Donald Baumgartner, will provide a gathering place where the community can experience Milwaukee Ballet in new ways.
The 52,000 square foot Center will include seven dance studios, allowing us to meet the increasing demands of our Milwaukee School & Academy, as well as deepening our collaborations with community partners. The Center will house the Ballet’s artistic and administrative staff and will provide a dedicated parking lot for staff and patrons.
Milwaukee Ballet has launched a capital campaign to build the Center, to provide an operating reserve to ensure the Ballet’s ongoing operations, to establish an artistic fund to create new works and extend programming excellence, and to fund a community initiative dedicated to providing free dance experiences. This fund will allow us to give back to the city which has supported us so generously.
Construction on the Baumgartner Center for Dance has begun. Check back with us as we continue to provide progress updates. For more information about the campaign, please contact Carl Lockrem, Development Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 414-902-2129.
