Taking it to the streets!

Milwaukee Ballet launched Ballet Beat to engage with the community during summer, Milwaukee’s most festive season. Ballet Beat returns this July and brings professional dancers into libraries, outdoor stages, and community centers throughout the Greater Milwaukee area for free interactive activities and professional performances.

Ballet Beat is made possible through the support of UPAF Connect, Brewers Community Foundation, Suzanne Martens, and supported in part by a grant from the Milwaukee Arts Board and the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin.

"Part of what we want to do with our community engagement efforts is to educate about the art form itself. It’s accessible; it’s fun; it’s for your family.”

Alyson Chavez, Director of Community Engagement | BizTimes

Ballet Beat introduces ballet to all audiences in a hands-on and accessible way. This initiative will travel all across the Greater Milwaukee area bringing dance to life and inspiring the community around us.

Our dancers will visit public libraries, care centers, and more. Get an autographed picture at Bastille Days, hear a story, do Pilates with the dancers at the WAC, and see them on stage. There is something this summer for everyone!

Spice up storytime by attending one of our outreach events at Slinger Public Library, South Milwaukee Public Library and/or Discovery World. Our dancers teach ballet basics with the help of books!

Want to learn how to plié, chassé, or relevé? Join us for mini ballet classes at Bastille Days or our Action/Reaction Workshop at KidZ Days at the Marcus Center for Performing Arts. Don’t let the summer pass you by without attending one of our Ballet Beat events.
