Genesis is a competition for choreographers, but those who witness it are truly the winners. Three finalists are handpicked by Michael Pink from around the world and challenged to choreograph a dynamic, cutting-edge new piece in three weeks. You, the audience, help select who will win the ultimate prize: the honor of returning to create another work for Milwaukee Ballet. This isn’t just an opportunity to change a talented choreographer’s life. It’s a chance to see boundaries pushed and rules broken. It’s a glimpse into what truly is the future of dance.

Genesis is a great introduction to the ballet experience. Staged in the intimate Pabst Theater, each performance runs only 20 minutes, split up by two intermissions. This mixed rep programming gives the viewer a kaleidoscope of dance throughout the evening, with a chance to stretch and mingle inbetween performances.
